Overview
DevMatrix is a full-stack platform for analyzing, managing, and improving the software development process. It collects and analyzes developer activity data from GitHub, while providing tools like AI Debugging and analytics dashboards. The project's goal is to transform raw development data into actionable insights for understanding performance, activity, and development process quality.
01
Problem
Developer activity data such as commits, pull requests, issues, and repositories are usually scattered across various services and don't provide a unified view of performance and development trends. Additionally, analyzing code errors and quickly understanding technical issues can consume significant developer time.
02
Approach & Technical Decisions
Designing a modular and extensible architecture for a multi-section platform
Designing the system core including User, Session, and Project for connecting various modules
Implementing RESTful API with Express and modular structure including routes, controllers, and services
Data modeling with MongoDB and Mongoose for managing users, projects, sessions, and analytics data
Implementing authentication and session management for secure access to different platform sections
Connecting to GitHub API for fetching and analyzing developer activities
Building Analytics dashboard for displaying and analyzing developer GitHub activity
Implementing AI Debugging for error analysis and providing intelligent suggestions using language models
Designing Project Management system for connecting external projects to DevMatrix
Designing modern and responsive user interface with Next.js and TypeScript
03
Challenges
Challenge 01
GitHub data integration
Collecting and processing data such as commits, pull requests, issues, and repositories and converting them into analyzable data in a unified structure.
Challenge 02
Multi-module architecture design
Designing a shared core for connecting capabilities like Analytics, AI Debugging, and Project Management without creating tight coupling between modules.
Challenge 03
Developer activity analysis
Converting raw GitHub data into metrics and indicators that can provide a clearer picture of a developer's activity and development trends.
Challenge 04
Integrating AI in the debugging process
Designing a flow for sending code and errors to language models and processing AI responses in a way that results are understandable and useful for developers.
Challenge 05
Session and access management
Creating a secure structure for managing sessions and controlling user access to projects, analytics data, and various platform capabilities.
Challenge 06
Data-driven dashboard design
Presenting large volumes of developer data in simple and understandable dashboard formats without creating complexity and clutter in the user experience.
04
Result
A modular full-stack platform for managing and analyzing the software development process that transforms GitHub data into analytics dashboards and provides capabilities like AI Debugging and project management in an integrated environment for developers.
